Powerdot e miio lançam Autocharge em Espanha e França, com previsão de lançamento em Portugal até final deste ano

Powerdot, one of fastest growing pan-European CPO (Charging Point Operators) focused on destination charging, launched today (June 6th) Autocharge – a feature that allows an EV to automatically begin charging as soon as it is plugged into a compatible charging station, without the need for the driver to initiate the charging process manually each time. This feature is live in Spain and France, and will come to Portugal by the end of the year.

This feature was  launched in partnership with Miio, one of Europe’s fastest-growing EMSPs (eMobility Service Provider), with more than 150.000 users. To enable it, users can download the app, configure their vehicle, and after following the instructions on their first charge, use it when charging at all compatible Powerdot locations.

“Our objective with this feature is to continue to bring to our users the best charging experience, complementing their day-to-day and transforming how users charge in Spain, France and, in the very new future, in Portugal” – Luís Santiago Pinto, CEO of Powerdot.

Daniela Simões, CEO of Miio highlights the strategic importance of the relationship with Powerdot. “Our joint effort to introduce Autocharge will provide a hassle-free and seamless experience for EV drivers, making electric mobility more accessible and convenient across Europe. As a long-standing and trusted partner of Miio, Powerdot has been contributing exceptionally to improve simplicity and innovation in the market, accelerating the transition to a greener future.”

Autocharge – a simpler way of charging your Electric Vehicle

Autocharge refers to a feature that allows an EV to automatically begin charging as soon as it is plugged into a compatible charging station, without the need for the driver to manually initiate the charging process each time (e.g., the usual process of scanning the physical badge).

Autocharge can be used to simplify the experience in a public charging context in a few different ways:

  • Eliminating the need for driver interaction: With Autocharge, the charging process begins as soon as the EV is plugged in, without the need for the driver to interact with the charging station, smartphone app, or any other device. This can be particularly useful in busy public charging contexts, where drivers may need to charge their vehicles and move on quickly.
  • Streamlining the payment process: In some cases, Autocharge can also be used to automatically bill the driver’s payment method on file without the need for the driver to manually enter payment information or interact with a separate payment system. This can further simplify the charging experience by eliminating the need for drivers to carry a separate payment card or interact with a separate payment system.
  • Improving availability and efficiency: By simplifying the charging process and reducing the time required for each charging session, Autocharge can also help improve public charging stations’ availability and efficiency. This can help to reduce wait times and ensure that more drivers can access the charging stations they need, which can be particularly important in areas with high EV adoption rates or limited charging infrastructure.

Overall, by simplifying the charging process, streamlining payment, and improving availability and efficiency, Autocharge can help to make public charging more convenient and user-friendly for EV drivers.
